You deserve a robot vacuum! Why? That’s easy! Self Care! If you’ve never thought of robotic vacuums as synonymous with self-care, think again! Anything that HELPS make your life easier is self-care.

Robot vacs do those dull, pesky tasks of sweeping and vacuuming! And anything that easily removes allergens from your environment, saves wear & tear on your body, and gives you freedom is SELF-CARE. Keep reading to hear more details about the benefits of robot vacuums.

Robot Vacuums: Work Great & Are Worth the Money!

Hey there, if you’ve been wondering how those robot vacuums work or if they’re worth the money, I’m here to tell you that the answer is a resounding YES on both counts!

CONSUMER REPORTS* RECOMMENDATIONS

All the robot vacuum models listed below were rated relatively high on Consumer Reports*. Still, the rating was primarily based on the performance of removing various debris from carpets and bare floors. There are a lot of other features to consider, listed at the end of this article.

It is helpful to look at Amazon reviews to see what people like best about each model.  If you purchase from my link, As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

1. Efficient Cleaning – The Robot Vacuum does a better job than you!

My Roomba 985 does a much better job cleaning my floors than I could ever do pushing a manual vacuum. First, when using a manual vacuum, you probably don’t go back and forth over the same spot more than once or twice. On the contrary, the robot repeatedly cleans the entire room until it senses the job is finished.

And the coolest thing is that if you ever want to check how well it worked, empty the dust bin and rerun it.

2. Physical Presence Not Required – The robot vacuum works, not you!

The BEST PART IS: You don’t have to be physically present while it cleans your floor!

I especially like putting the robot vacuum into one room, like my bedroom, and then close the door and leave. Closing the door and leaving the room is fabulous! It’s working, and I’m not!

Highly rated by Consumer Reports*, this advertisement boasts these qualities: iRobot Roomba s9+ (9550) Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal-Empties Itself, Wi-Fi Connected, Smart Mapping, Powerful Suction, Corners & Edges, Ideal for Pet Hair, Black. Click here to see more.

3. Reduces Physical Strain: The robot vac takes the wear & tear – Not your body!

Additionally, manual vacuuming puts a lot of strain on your back and neck. For this reason, if you have neck or back issues, this is a great way to justify your purchase.

Not only that, even the most expensive manual push vacuums (like Kirby, which I own) are very heavy and cumbersome to move around. Ironically, getting that thing from room to room is a pain!

On the other hand, a robot vacuum is ‘hands-off’ for the most part. It can be a little heavy to pick up and carry to another room, but most have mapping features. Once it learns your floor plan, it will navigate itself. Be sure to check “mapping” when you’re pre-shopping.

4. Robot Vacuums Give you Freedom and Independence

It might sound funny to say that a robot vacuum can give you freedom, but it’s true! That’s because you can set it and forget it.

All you have to do is ensure you’ve prepped the floor well enough, meaning you’re sure the vacuum won’t get stuck on anything. Unfortunately, if it gets stuck, it will stop until you fix the issue.

But as long as you’ve prepped the floor, you can set it and leave the room while doing something more fun or valuable with your time.

Rated next after the Eufy by Consumer Reports* the advertisement states: Samsung Electronics R7040 Robot Vacuum: Wi-Fi Connectivity, Ideal for Carpets, Hard Floors, and Pet Hair with 3510Pa Strong Performance, Works with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant, Neutral Gray. Click here to see more.

5. Robot Vacuums Makes daily cleaning Easier and More Convenient

I think you’ll agree that vacuuming more than once or twice a week is too time-consuming and labor-intensive. But, with the robot vacuum, you can easily set it to clean DAILY. I like to run the robot vac daily, or at least every other day, in my bedroom, where I sleep. Because when the floors are cleaner, the air will be cleaner. I’ll sleep better and won’t get sinus problems at night.

Additionally, robot vacs can reach places I can’t, like under the bed. Therefore, the room, and the air in it, will be cleaner.

6. Robot Vacuums are Great for Pet Owners

Pet hair can be annoying; anyone with a pet knows what I’m talking about. So, if you have pets, the robot vacuum is the way to go.

Additionally, the ease of using the robot vac will allow you to vacuum more often and keep that pet hair at bay.

If you want to vacuum daily, I suggest you look for a brand known for running more on the quiet side. I say that is because my Roomba 985 runs pretty loud. Therefore, I don’t want to run it after I go to bed because I can still hear it running with my bedroom door closed. It’s just something for you to think about.

NOTE: There are some strategies you can use to get your pet used to the robot vacuum, like putting treats on it to create a positive association.

Question: Does the robot vacuum get clogged up with animal hair?

Answer: Not usually because dog hair is relatively short. On the contrary, long human hair can get tangled in the unit so regular cleaning is required.

7. Robot vacuums help with Allergies

As a person who has done extensive allergy testing, I know I’m allergic to pet hair and dust. And that’s a huge reason why I LOVE my robot vac!

My allergies were so bad that I was taking the antihistamine Benadryl at night and Claritin in the morning.
When I started using my robot vacuum daily in my bedroom, I realized I was no longer waking up with sinus headaches. Also, I was able to stop taking antihistamines.

If you have allergies, you should vacuum more often and effectively remove allergens from your environment, contributing to a healthier home.

Or, run it daily wherever you spend the most time. That’ll keep the dust and pet hair down and make you feel better more often!

Robot Vacuums: Automatically Moves from Surface to Surface

My Roomba 980 works great on my hard-surface vinyl flooring and then moves seamlessly onto my low-pile area rugs. However, it WILL NOT WORK on our long, shaggy area rug.
Additionally, I have a really open floor plan in my main living area, encompassing the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Even though it’s a large space, the Roomba does a good job going under tables, around chairs, and over low-pile area rugs.

8. Some Robot Vacuums have a highly convenient Self-Emptying Feature

The self-emptying feature of robot vacuums is fantastic! But . . . it does come with a higher price tag. So you have to decide whether you will spend more money.
Of course, you can always look for the self-emptying robot vacuum when it’s on sale. But, no doubt about it, it’s worth it.
I don’t really enjoy emptying mine manually, but I do it. And it’s okay. It just gets a little dusty, and the dust can get airborne. And then I usually have to wipe down the dustbin. Oh, it’s heavy too!
Therefore, I think it’s much better when you don’t have to touch it. But we can only have some things we want. So, if it’s in your budget, definitely get the self-emptying style; if it’s not in your budget, it’s still worth it to get one you must empty yourself.

9. Robot Vacuums are More Reliable & Last Longer

Robot vacuums have become more reliable over the years. The truth is, though, I’ve had a few models in the past that stopped working.

One brand I purchased had issues with the computer, and it kept giving me error signals. I couldn’t resolve it with the company and finally gave up. I bought that one from Target. I DO NOT recommend purchasing your robot vacuum from Target because their return policy on electronics could be better for the consumer.

So, because the price tag is so high on all models and brands, I recommend keeping the original box in case you need to ship it back to the manufacturer.
Some brands will replace the unit for you if you ship it back to them.

But, this IS A BIG INVESTMENT. To be safe, research the return policy, or at the very least, how to fix it if it malfunctions. Unfortunately, these are things that we must think about ahead of time.

10. Consider the cost of Paid Help Vs Buying a Robotic Vacuum

Imagine how much money you’re saving if you don’t have a housekeeper. Add it up over a year, and it would cost much more than a robot vacuum.

We’re all so bogged down in responsibilities. Why not treat yourself to a robot vacuum. It’s well worth the money, and you deserve it!

Conclusion

Robot Vacuums clean as well as a manually operated vacuum cleaner, in my opinion. Additionally, they do a more thorough job than I could do myself.

It saves wear and tear on your body, saves you time, and is better for your health by reducing allergens in the air more regularly.

Special features to look for are:

  • Automatic self-emptying
  • Quiet
  • Navigation mapping – learns your floor plan
  • Wi-fi connected: works with your smartphone.
  • Advanced scheduling capabilities.
  • Thin or slim models that fit better under furniture & beds
  • Works on low to medium pile carpeting (most probably won’t work on high pile carpeting)
  • Battery run time. Also, lithium-ion batteries are supposed to be better.
  • HEPA Filtration keeps dust from recirculating into the air.
  • Virtual walls by intelligent navigation – won’t fall off of stairs because it has special sensors.
  • Self-charging: makes its way back to the charging station automatically.
