This Life Is Finite
Why are we here? What is our purpose? These are BIG questions! Recently I was reminded, once again, that this life is fleeting. ‘What will I offer the world?’ was a question that came to my mind as I pondered this fact.
Come with me and I’ll tell you what led me to these questions.
My Offering
But first, please accept my ‘offering’ which is included below in the form of pretty, free, and downloadable printable pages called, ‘My Life Intentions’ plus an added ‘stressful events’ worksheet.
Both worksheets can be used in conjunction with my blog post article titled, How to Start a Daily Intentional Living Meditation Practice. Pin it and Pass it! Pay it Forward!
Pandemic Milestone
Sadly, we reached 500,000 Covid 19 deaths in the United States this week. I happened to be listening to a news show on television that day, and there was a religious leader that was discussing her take on this terrible milestone. One of her main talking points was that people tend to be in denial about the fact that we’re ever going to perish.
I thought that was a pretty interesting thing to say. Then, while I was reviewing my journal this morning, I realised that I had written the exact same thing around January first of this year (2021). Here is that journal entry:
My Journal Entry –
“As per usual, I never know what’s going to move me. The funny thing is, I didn’t want to watch the television today because I didn’t want politics to disturb my soul wellness. But, somehow I found myself watching the ‘In Memoriam’ segment of the Today show. Next thing you know, I’m crying.
As soon as I saw Kelly Preston’s picture, it hit me. I didn’t remember that she died. Considering that she was so young and, I knew she had young children, it made me so sad.
And I also knew she had a lot of heartbreak after losing her own son a few years back. But, the segment reminded me, once again, that this life is finite. But, we all seem to be in some kind of denial.
So, as I once again get the message that this life IS finite, I just question, Why are we here? What are we here to do? And what are we going to leave for this world?
What do I have to offer this world and what will I leave behind?
Will I only affect my children? Or will I help people on a broader scale?
It almost sounds . . . narcissistic, like, ‘I want to leave my mark on this world!’ or ‘I want to be famous!’ But it really is just more of, “why am I here?” “What’s my purpose?” And, “What am I going to bring to this world that can be helpful?”
And, I just finished my first digital product on living an intentional life, Intentional life planning, and setting intentions, but I ended up making one worksheet that I’m really excited about: it’s called “stressful events worksheet.”
It helps you work out stressful events and process through them, and then come up with some positive words that you’ll tell yourself in your daily intentional meditation.
And I think that’s pretty powerful, and if I can get these out, then that would make me happy.”
Conclusion
Well, that was quite a large excerpt from my journal but I wanted to share it because I feel that it said everything that I would have wanted to relay to you. I asked myself the question (in my journal) and gave myself the answer without even knowing it at the time.
I hope you’ll agree that it’s the perfect opportunity for me to give my ‘offering’ to you right now.
It may not be much, but it IS something. I actually worked really hard on it and I’ve used it myself. It works.
So, I encourage you to print it out and give it a try. When you need it, it’ll be there.
The purpose of the stressful events worksheet is to help you with things that happen every day or come up occasionally, nothing serious. It’s a tool, a strategy, a coping mechanism.
It’ll help you process through stressful events, i.e., random crap that always happens :-), and in my experience, it’s so much better to process through your emotions so they don’t get stuck in your body. It’s your work to do.
Peace and love.
